Most website projects slow down for one reason. Someone is waiting on something, and it is usually text, photos or a login. A little preparation makes a build faster and the result better.
Here is what to gather. You do not need all of it to start. To request a quote you only need to tell us about your business, your goals, the pages you want and a few examples you like. Once you approve the quote, we ask for the rest.
Know what the site is for
Before anything else, decide the one thing a visitor should do. Call you? Book? Request an appointment? Fill in a form? Everything on the site should point toward it.
Then decide what would make the site a success for you. More phone calls, fewer repeat questions, more booked appointments. A specific answer helps us design for it.
Write down your basic facts
Put these in one document so they are right everywhere:
- Business name, exactly as you want it written.
- Address for each location, with hours and phone number.
- The email where messages should go.
- The towns or area you serve.
- Your license numbers, if your field uses them.
Check hours for holidays and seasons now. Wrong hours send customers to a locked door.
List your services
For each service, write its name and one or two sentences in your own words. Add what it costs or how you price it, if you want to show that, how long it takes and who it suits. Your own pricing is yours to show, and you decide what to publish.
You do not need polished writing. Rough notes are fine. The more detail you give, the closer your first version will be to what you want.
Gather photos
Real photos beat stock ones. Collect:
- Your space, inside and outside.
- Your team, on the job.
- Your work: finished jobs, products, results you can show.
- A clear headshot of you or the people clients will meet.
A recent phone camera in daylight is enough. Hold the phone sideways for wide shots. Get permission from anyone who appears in a photo, and for patients or clients, written consent.
Your logo and brand
Send your logo if you have one, ideally as a file with a transparent background. If you do not, a Logo design add-on and a Brand kit are available, and the Premium package includes both. Tell us about colors you love or avoid.
Open or collect the accounts you will need
Your accounts should be in your name. Depending on the project, that can mean:
- Your domain. If you have one, note where it is registered. If you do not, you can buy one at any registrar and turn on auto-renew.
- Scheduling. A tool such as Cal.com, Acuity or Square Appointments. You own the account and pay its fee.
- Payments. A Stripe account, so deposits and payments go straight to you.
- Google Business Profile. Claim yours or make sure you can log in.
- Email. A mailbox at your own domain if you want one.
If the logins are held by an old web person, ask them for access now. It can take a few days.
Collect examples
Send the addresses of websites you like, and say what you like about each. It might be the colors, how they show prices, or how simple the booking is. Screenshots work too. We use them to understand your taste. We do not copy anyone's site.
Get your policies ready
If you take deposits, cancel appointments or have rules, write them down in plain words. If you are in a health or legal field, decide what your forms should and should not ask. Information that does not belong in a form is better left out.
Decide who says yes
Choose a single decision-maker who approves the design and answers questions. If two people have to agree, tell us who they are. Slow answers are the biggest cause of delays, and you will get updates by email or text along the way.
What happens next
When you request a quote, we reply within 1 business day, talk through your project and send a written quote. Once you approve it and send your content, you get a private preview link while we build, and you can leave notes right on it. Timelines for each package are on the packages page. If you already have a site, our website check is a good first step.
